Governor Doyle Presents Training GrantNo Author
Jul 28, 2008
Governor Doyle was at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton on Thursday, July 24, 2008 to present a check for $97,000. The college is using the money to continue training workers at businesses in Brillion, WI.
“I want to be very clear about something, and this is a vision shared across the state, manufacturing has been what has gotten us this far, and it is going to be manufacturing that is going to lead us into the future as well,” Governor Doyle said.
Three of the four major manufacturers in Brillion are getting a big boost to keep jobs in that community through this education grant. These businesses are Professional Plating, Ariens and Brillion Iron Works.
The grant for the consortium project allows Fox Valley Technical College to build the City of Brillion's local manufacturing workforce by providing assessment services and critical core, technical and supervisory skills training for 624 workers in Ariens, Brillion Iron Works and Professional Plating.
The 922 hours of training, delivered prior to June 30, 2009, improves business viability and competiveness through improved performance metrics, provides employee skill gains, and addresses community and regional economic development priorities.
The governor says Brillion was selected because the city’s economy rests on manufacturing. Continued education is an important part of these businesses staying competitive.
PPI is positioning itself and its team to further compete and differentiate from others by helping make the Wisconsin landscape strong and vibrant.
With this grant, each of PPI’s team members, acting as owners of the company, will be able to receive detailed training in the areas of Working Cooperatively in Teams, Following Directions and Decision Making, Demonstrating a Positive Attitude and How to apply these Critical Core skills in the future workplace.
The training deposits PPI is making into all team members will allow them to contribute and have a much greater impact at Professional Plating Inc.
We look forward to firmly and confidently moving along the continuum that we have established for the future!
